Performance Appraisal No 3, Molten Tongues curated by Jake Treacy, Incinerator Gallery, 2026. Photography by Thomas McCammon.

Performance Appraisal is an ongoing series revising Ramírez's body of work through the lens of bureaucracy. The framework of a 'performance appraisal' implies Ramírez' ouvre is being measured, reviewed and valorised. In the event of re-showing a work that has undergone an appraisal—without the mechanisms that make it an appraisal—he simply retitles it as Dead Work with a number matching the appraisal.

For Performance Appraisal 3, Ramírez re-staged his past exhibition Vampires of the Earth (2023) in the group show Molten Tongues curated by Jake Treacy, with the inclusion of a 'performance review' document that measured his works in relation to The White Pube's essay The Problem With Diaspora Art (2023). The sheet was inside a fire proof case (Molten Tongues was an exhibition about fire): in case of a fire, only criticism remains.
