The Monster Problem is an exhibition framed by a manuscript developed during a residency at the artist run space Interior 2.1 in Guadalajara, Mexico. The exhibition looks at the white cube as a social space to consider the function of diaspora art in a virtue economy. Following this premise, Ramírez seeks to replicate one of the derelict rooms at Interior 2.1 as an installation, within a gallery space in Naarm, to stage a speculative exhibition of text based artworks. A wider aim of this project is to explore why the Professional Managerial Class favours and supports performative language. To tease out this notion, Ramírez will underscore the show with an auto-theory manuscript drawing from his managerial experience in the artist run sector.

Indeed, this exhibition is framed by an auto-theory manuscript written in the first voice of a Gallery Director, who returns to his hometown of Guadalajara, Mexico, after a period of diaspora. On the way to an exhibition opening called The Monster Problem, a vampire bites him. This show is a speculative manifestation of the exhibition that the protagonist never gets to see.
